OROVILLE, Calif. – The Butte County Sheriff’s Office said they have arrested a teen after a 12-year-old was shot in Oroville on Sunday, Oct. 11.
Deputies said they responded to a report of a shooting at a residence near the 5300 block of Margo Lane in Oroville. Authorities said they located a 12-year-old who had been shot.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, and later transferred by helicopter to a Sacramento area hospital. According to BCSO, the 12-year-old victim is currently in stable condition.
Authorities said they spent the last two days investigating. On Monday, Oct. 12, detectives served a search warrant related to the shooting at a residence located in the 300 block of Lausen Street in Oroville.
Detectives said they determined a 16-year-old shot the victim. The 16-year-old was booked at the Butte County Juvenile Hall on felony charges related to the shooting, according to deputies.
The sheriff’s office said in a news release Tuesday that because this is an ongoing investigation involving a juvenile victim and juvenile suspect, they will not be releasing further details at this time.
