REDDING, Calif. - A Redding man is facing attempted murder charges for shooting his ex-girlfriend, according to investigators.
The Shasta County Sheriff's Office said it happened Monday morning on Placer Street, when Josh Carlson fired a gun through a window, wounding the victim. Deputies said the two used to live together, and that Carlson claimed he feared for his safety.
Investigators said they found no evidence that the woman was armed or posed a danger. They did find a text message from the suspect threatening to harm her.
