OROVILLE, Calif. – An Oroville man was arrested for child pornography after he attempted to run away from Butte County Sheriff’s deputies.

49-year-old Dwayne Hansen was booked into the Butte County Jail for a felony count of possession of over 600 images of child pornography and several more charges, according to BCSO.

Deputies were patrolling the area of the Monument Hill Boat Launch on May 29. They located a motorhome with an expired registration parked in the area. Deputies said Hansen was contacted and learned from a records check that he was required to register to the Sex Offender Registration Act.

While searching the motorhome, deputies said they located marijuana, meth, and children’s underwear. Deputies questioned Hansen and said he used them while performing sexual acts, according to deputies.

As deputies continued speaking with Hansen, they learned he had child pornography on a cell phone inside the motorhome. Hansen stood up and attempted to run away from deputies. After a short pursuit, Hansen was arrested, according to the sheriff’s news release.

Hansen’s electronic devices were collected by BCSO and a search warrant was authored. A forensics download of the devices occurred and numerous images of child pornography appeared on the device.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with additional information to contact Detective Jason Miller at 530-538-7671.
