OROVILLE, Calif. – One Butte County man is behind bars after deputies said he attacked a disabled man in the community of Hurleton.
Deputies said 67-year-old George McKinnon, of Oroville, invited two people to stay over at his home in the 200 block of Black Bart Road on Saturday, Nov. 14. The Butte County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) said he hit both of his guests, one of whom is confined to a wheelchair, repeatedly with an object.
The man in the wheelchair had several serious injuries and was transported to the Oroville Hospital. Officials say he is currently in stable condition.
Based on the search warrant, deputies were able to arrest McKinnon and charge him for assault with a deadly weapon and battery. McKinnon is scheduled to be arraigned at the Butte County Superior Court on Tuesday, November 17, at 3 p.m.
