MAGALIA, Calif. – Detectives with the Butte County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a homicide in Magalia after homeowners told deputies a neighbor entered their home without permission.
It happened in the 14000 block of Carnegie Road in Magalia around 11:50 a.m. Thursday. Deputies said they received a report from a resident who said a neighbor entered their home and assaulted two of the homeowners.
Once deputies arrived on scene, two of the residents were found injured and one was later transported to a local hospital.
During the investigation, authorities said they located an unresponsive male in the home. Authorities said they determined the male was dead and that he was the neighbor who entered the home without permission.
Detectives said the homeowners have been cooperative and are currently being interviewed. They added, based on the initial investigation, it's been determined the neighbor entered the homeowner’s house without consent and a struggle ensued. BCSO said they are still in the process of interviewing witnesses and obtaining evidence.
