COTTONWOOD, Calif. – K-9 Fritz helped Shasta County Deputies arrest a man after he was found sitting in a stolen vehicle at a gas station on Thursday around 3:19 a.m. in Cottonwood, according to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office.
A Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputy said he noticed a white Chevy Tahoe parked and running at the pumps at the Fourth Street Chevron, on the 20000 block of Fourth Street in Cottonwood.
The vehicle matched the description of a vehicle that was recently reported stolen out of Redding.
Deputies and K-9 Fritz arrived on scene and made numerous attempts to contact the suspect in the vehicle, identified as 30-year-old Travis Ryan, according to deputies.
Ryan was seated in the driver’s seat of the car, slumped over the center console. Deputies contacted Ryan again, and he became physically resistant to them, according to deputies.
Due to Ryan not complying with orders, Deputies deployed K-9 Fritz, Ryan was arrested and later booked in the Shasta County Jail.
