ANDERSON, Calif. – A man accused of kidnapping his neighbor was arrested Sunday at the Red Bluff Diversion Dam, according to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said on Sunday they received a report from a woman that she had been taken against her will from the city of Anderson to the Red Bluff Diversion Dam.
When deputies arrived, they said they contacted the victim who reported that her neighbor, Mr. Knauss had lured her into his car by offering her a ride to a nearby store. Once the victim was inside the car with Knauss, he drove the car out of the area in the opposite direction of the store.
The victim told Knauss that she wished to exit the car and he repeatedly denied her request and made several violent threats towards her, according to deputies. He then drove the victim to the Red Bluff Diversion Dam, about 20 miles away from where she first got into the car.
During the drive, deputies said Knauss ignored several traffic laws to prevent the victim from being able to exit. Deputies and officers from the CHP located Knauss in his parked car at the Red Bluff Diversion Dam.
Knauss was arrested and booked into the Tehama County Jail. His bail has been set at $500,000, deputies said.
