REDDING, Calif. – A Shasta County woman was arrested for arson by Cal Fire Law Enforcement Officers for allegedly starting a vegetation fire off of Rock Creek Road.

Officers said 54-year-old Jeanna Barnette was arrested on June 18 for allegedly starting a vegetation fire on June 17.

Firefighters responded to a vegetation fire near Rock Creek Road and Walker Terrace that burned one-acre of grass, brush, and pine trees on June 17, according to Cal Fire. Several witnesses spoke to officers who said it led to learning Barnette was involved in the fire.

Officers said they spoke to Barnette who admitted to firing a flare gun during an argument that started the Walker Fire. She was arrested and transported to the Shasta County Jail for recklessly causing a fire, negligent discharge of a firearm, and recklessly causing a fire during a declared emergency.
