Shasta County sees 8 new COVID-19 deaths, 2 in Butte County

Shasta County Health and Human Services reported eight new COVID-19 deaths.

REDDING, Calif. - Eight new deaths from the coronavirus were reported in Shasta County on Wednesday.

Shasta County Health and Human Services said a man in his 50s, two women in their 60s, a man in his 70s, a woman in her 80s and a man in his 80s died from the virus.

This is the second-highest number of deaths reported in Shasta County in one day.

There are now a total of 274 COVID-19 deaths in Shasta County.

There are currently 224 people in ICU and 89 are hospitalized. There are currently 1,093 active cases.

On Wednesday, there were 203 new cases reported with 37 cases coming from people in the 20 to 29 age group.

All of these are statistics from Tuesday and reported Wednesday.

Butte County reported two new deaths on Wednesday. There are now 225 coronavirus deaths in Butte County.
