Health officials said over the weekend, Shasta County submitted a request to the state for adjudication of the county's anticipated move into the purple (widespread) tier. The county said it explained the recent Covid-19 outbreaks and the steps taken to address them.
They stated that the county has not identified significant disease spread in the sectors that will be further restricted in the purple tier. However, the state said it did not plan to approve the county's request - leading to Tuesday's update of Shasta County now sitting in the purple tier.
