SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - An argument between a father and son turned violent in Shasta Lake on Tuesday.

The Shasta County Sheriff's Office said Richard Rodriguez threw a brick at his 67-year-old father, Greg Rodriguez.

Multiple Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies, including a K-9 unit, and a California Highway Patrol Helicopter responded to the area to attempt to locate Richard.

When Greg called 911, deputies say the son grabbed what turned out to be a stolen rifle and ran away from the Virginia Avenue home on the 3000 block.

Tips from the neighbors lead officers to a home on Twin View Boulevard, where Richard was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse and possession of stolen property.

Authorities then booked him into the Shasta County Jail.
