SHASTA LAKE, CALIF. - Neighbors in Shasta Lake worked together on Nov. 7 to help Shasta County deputies capture a man who is suspected of burglarizing a garage on Trinity Street.

The Shasta County Sheriff's Office says deputies arrested 19-year-old Tajari Gabriel Phillips because they suspected him of taking a rifle and ammunition.

After being confronted by the homeowner, deputies say he fled on foot through backyards in the neighborhood.

A neighbor's video surveillance showed a man who appeared to be Phillips carrying a rifle case and running.

Deputies say they found Phillips in a wooded area on Butterfly Lane, neighbors matched his identity to the surveillance and it was once more confirmed by the victim.

After officers arrested Phillips for residential burglary, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, neighbors helped them locate the stolen rifle under a pile of leaves.
