REDDING, Calif. – Election Day is less than a month away. But early voting is already underway.

“I’m here because I’ve filled [my ballot] out and I’ve studied the propositions and I know what I want to vote for,” said Nick Gardner of Redding.

Many voters headed to the Shasta County Office of Elections to either drop off their ballots or vote in person. Voting early can help reduce the congestion of people once November 3 rolls around. But it also makes sure ballots get in right before results are released.

“I believe every vote counts and that everyone should vote,” said Jean Wilcox of Anderson.

The Shasta County Office of Elections says it’s already seen a lot of people come by and drop off their ballots or vote in person.

“We had a long line of folks here,” said Cathy Darling Allen, the Shasta County Clerk and Registrar of Voters.

“We had over 200 people vote on Monday, also on Tuesday. We're also getting ballots back through drop boxes in the mail.”

The Office of Elections says it is expecting a big turnout for this election season.

Voters wanted to get their ballots in early because they want to make sure votes get counted.

“As important as this is, I want to make sure my ballot is counted,” said Gardner.
