REDDING, Calif. - There is one week out from the recall election. Millions have already mailed their ballot in, but where do things stand in our area?

Cathy Darling Allen is the registrar of voters for Shasta County and says more people will probably vote on Election Day than those who voted early.

“We have gotten back 26-thousand ballots, and we have about 113-thousand registered voters in Shasta County," Darling Allen said.

Darling Allen says so far turnout has been what she expected for the recall election.

“We have had 1000 people so far in the last two weeks vote in person, and this has been a very normal turn out for Shasta County for a special election," Darling Allen said.

Meanwhile, Marilyn Loucks, a Shasta County voter says she cast her ballot in person to make sure it made it in.

"I wanted to make sure my ballot counted and didn’t get lost, so I put it in the box there," Loucks said.

"Well, I think everybody should vote, I signed up to vote when I was 21 on the day I was 21, and of course, that’s when you had to wait till you were 21, and I think everyone should vote it’s very important," Loucks said.

The Shasta County Clerk’s office will be open Monday to Friday and is even opening on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for any last-minute voters.
