Bundle up, and give yourself a few extra minutes to get to where you're going this morning. Be prepared to deal with very chilly temperatures and frost on your way out the door this morning. Clear skies, and lighter winds have helped temperatures to become chilly again this morning. Skies are going to be sunny to mostly sunny this morning, but some clouds will filter into our region this afternoon. Temperatures have dipped into the 20's to mid 30's in the valley this morning, and into the teens to 20's in the mountains overnight. Winds will be light and out of the East today. High temperatures are only projected to climb into the low to mid 50's in the valley this afternoon, and into the mid to high 40's in the mountains later today. We'll be staying dry for today and tomorrow, but big changes are ahead for your weekend.
Friday will be very similar to Thursday, but with more clouds. We'll be staying dry through Friday night, with wet and windy weather returning for your weekend. Gusty North winds and periods of heavy rain and snow will be on the way for Saturday. Snow levels will be down between 3000' to 4000', and the snow is expected to bring significant travel impacts. Anyone planning on heading through the mountains this weekend should have chains or 4wd. Rain and snow look to be the heaviest on Saturday afternoon and evening. Winds will be sustained up to 45mph out of the South, with gusts to 60mph in the valley. Gusts up to 70mph will be possible in mountain areas. Downed trees into roadways and power lines will be a concern. Precipitation becomes somewhat lighter on Sunday, but the gusty North winds will continue.
Weaker wet systems look likely for the start to middle of next week. The current models are suggesting wet weather will be ahead for Monday through Wednesday, with a chance for more active weather after that.
