Several earthquakes shook the Tahoe area Thursday night

The largest quake reported was a M 4.7. Several earthquakes were reported in the Tahoe area Thursday night.

LAKE TAHOE –Several earthquakes were reported Thursday night near Lake Tahoe.

A M 4.7 earthquake has been reported by the United States Geological Service (USGS) 18 km northwest of Truckee at a depth of 3.3 km. The report came in at 9:35 p.m.

Another earthquake was reported in the same area just nine minutes prior, at 9:26 p.m. That was a M 3.2 earthquake at a depth of 8.6 km.

Also, at 9:37 p.m. a M 3.1 earthquake was reported 13 km south southeast of Sierraville, California. It was recorded at a depth of 10.8 km.

Action News Now viewers were calling in to our newsroom after they felt the earthquakes. Some reported feeling the shaking as far away as Magalia in Butte County.
