CHICO, Calif. – The community COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Meriam Park in Chico will administer second doses for the first time. This will start with Butte County residents ages 65 and older – who received their first dose at the clinic, according to Enloe Medical Center.

The clinic will open on Feb. 19 and continue from Feb. 23 through Feb. 26. Residents in this first tier will be notified to schedule their appointment on a first-come, first-serve basis, by Butte County staff. An appointment is required to receive vaccination, and the county encourages all vaccine recipients to bring their COVID-19 vaccination card with them to receive their second dose.

At this time, first dose vaccination clinics in Butte County have been paused until further notice.

Enloe Medical Center and Butte County say they are planning the next phase of vaccine rollout and look forward to continuing first doses as the State allocates more vaccine to the county.

“Giving second doses is an important milestone on our road to fully vaccinating our community,” said Judy Cline, Enloe’s Director of Emergency Department, Prompt Care and Trauma Services. “We appreciate everyone’s patience along the way and are grateful to everyone who has stepped up to support this critical effort.”

Currently, Butte County ranks seventh out of 58 counties in the state for COVID-19 vaccine doses administered per 100,000 people, according to data compiled by the Los Angeles Times. This ranking can change on a daily basis, but the county has consistently been in the top 10.

It was slightly hotter today around northern California with far more sun than cloud cover. We'll have another mostly sunny and hot day on Thursday, but changes will arrive before the week is complete.
