Update: 5 Rescued at Lake Oroville From Boat Crash; At Least 1 Dead

One person is confirmed dead after a search and rescue from a possible boat crash in Lake Oroville, Sunday afternoon.

UPDATE 9:21 p.m. - Cal Fire said the deceased victim was found 40 feet underwater by the Butte County Sheriff's Office. 

It took six engine/truck companies and 30 personnel to conduct the search and rescue.

At first reports, Cal Fire said two boats crashed but now they say that only one boat was involved and that it struck the shore on Lake Oroville, near the west branch bridge. 

The crash happened just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday. 

Cal Fire, BCSO, State Parks, Butte Medics and Enloe Flight Care all responded to the incident, according to a press release sent by Cal Fire.



UPDATE 7:56 p.m. -
One person is confirmed dead after a search and rescue from a possible boat crash in Lake Oroville, Sunday afternoon. 

Five people were rescued, three of them were transported by EMS for medical treatment. 


No further information has been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident. 


OROVILLE, Calif. - Butte County Cal Fire is responding to a possible boat crash at Lake Oroville involving multiple people, authorities say some might be dead.

Authorities responded to the scene at around 7:17 p.m. Sunday and firefighter officials say two boats were involved and it's being called the Lime Saddle rescue. 

Four people so far have been rescued from the incident, but no confirmation of deaths as of yet.
