SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - North Cow Creek School went on a soft lockdown on Thursday, due to a threatening note left inside the boy's bathroom.
North Cow Creek posted a note on their website to update families regarding the incident.
The threatening note, which was reported by a student on Monday, stated that the school would be "shot up on Dec. 5." The school reviewed surveillance footage and determined that no unfamiliar person entered the bathroom, according to the school.
Throughout the school's investigation, they said they believe this was a prank. The student who wrote the note has not yet been identified.
The Shasta County Sheriff's Deputies said only half of the students showed up to school on Thursday. A school resource officer and sheriff's deputy have remained on-site.
The school said they will continue to work with the Sheriff's department to investigate this incident and to ensure the students are safe.
