North State school closures on the way

UPDATE: 11:24 a.m., Thursday, March 19 - The Butte County Superintended said schools will be closed through April 17. This article will be updated as more closures are announced.

CHICO, Calif. - Multiple schools across the North State will be closed as a precaution to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

BUTTE COUNTY
  • Butte County Superintendent of Schools, Mary Sakuma said Butte County schools will be closed through April 17. The Butte County Office of Education is providing pick-up "grab-and-go" meals at nearly 30 locations around the county for students while schools are closed. Read More
SHASTA COUNTY
  • Montgomery Creek School Staff does not need to report to school Wednesday, March 18.
  • Oak Run Elementary School will be closed starting Tuesday, March 17 through Tuesday, April 14. The district office will remain open. School breakfast and lunch will be available to all Oak Run students if an arrangement is made by 1 p.m. the day prior.
  • Cottonwood Union School District is closed starting Tuesday, March 17. They plan to resume on April 14.
  • Cascade Union Elementary School District schools will be closed starting Tuesday, March 17. Students should return on Monday, April 13. This includes North State Aspire Academy and Tree of Life Charter School.
  • Bella Vista Elementary School is suspending classes starting Tuesday, March 17 until further notice.
  • Pacheco Union School District is suspending face-to-face instruction starting Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, April 13.
  • Grant Elementary School in Shasta County will be closed starting Monday, March 16.
  • Berry Creek Elementary will be closed starting Monday, March 16 until March 27.
  • Enterprise Elementary School District will be closed to students starting Tuesday, March 17.
  • Happy Valley Schools will suspend classes on Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17, the school will not be in session.
  • Shasta Union High School District will be closed starting Monday, March 16 through April 3.
  • Fall River Unified Joint School District says they will not hold school March 16. The duration is expected to be announced tomorrow evening.
  • Chrysalis Charter School in Palo Cedro will be closed Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, April 13.
  • Columbia Elementary School District will be closed Tuesday, March 17 until further notice.
  • Mountain Union Elementary School District will be closed Tuesday, March 17 until further notice.
  • Junction Elementary School District will be closed Tuesday, March 17 until further notice.
  • Redding STEM Academy will be closed beginning Wednesday, March 18 through Tuesday, April 14. On Tuesday, March 17, the school will be open for students who have no daycare.
  • Fall River Joint Unified School District will close all schools on Tuesday, March 17 through Friday, April 17.
  • Montgomery Creek School will cease face to face classes until March 20.
  • Indian Springs School will be closed starting Thursday, March 19 and tentatively resume Monday, April 13.
TEHAMA COUNTY
  • Tehama County Department of Education said all public schools in Tehama County are closed starting Monday, March 16 through March 27.
  • Gerber School will remain closed through April 17.
GLENN COUNTY
  • Orland Unified School District will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, April 20. Food will still be provided.
  • Capay Joint Union Elementary School district will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, April 20.
  • Hamilton City School District will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, April 20.
  • Lake Elementary School District will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, April 20.
  • Orland Unified School District will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, April 20.
  • Plaza Elementary School District will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, April 20.
  • Princeton Joint Unified School District will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, April 20.
  • Stony Creek Joint Unified School District will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, April 20.
  • Willows Unified School District will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, April 20.
  • Walden Academy will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, April 20.
TRINITY COUNTY
  • Action News Now has not been notified of any closures in Trinity County.
