CHICO, Calif. -  Soggy Dog Day returns to Shapiro Pool in Chico on Saturday, November 2nd, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Chico Area Recreation and Park District (CARD) and Trailblazer Pet Supply are teaming up to host the event.  it's billed as a pet health fair and a fundraiser for a new dog park.

But the real fun is when the dogs get to hit take over the pool for a group swim.

The pet health fair part of the event is FREE.  Various Chico pet organizations and vendors will share information about goods and services for animals.

For $10, dogs get to enjoy swimming in the pool for 30 minutes.   There are seven sessions scheduled throughout the day.  And, you get to leave with a goody bag.

As far as pool rules? Only dogs in the water, no owners. No personal toys permitted, but there will be plenty of tennis balls on hand.  Dogs must be spayed or neutered and up to date on their rabies and vaccination shots.   If a dog is too unruly or aggressive, the owner may be asked to remove them from the pool deck.

The first wave of rain, snow and wind has moved over California, but many more chances for rain, snow and gusty wind are in our short term and long term forecast. After a relatively quiet evening, we can expect more rain and snow starting early Thursday morning.
