The Salvation Army of Chico will host its 2nd Annual Santa Shuffle Race.

Participants can either run a 5K or 1 mile course.

Registration is $40 and participants can sign up at www.chico.salvationarmy.org at Fleet Sports 241 Main Street Friday December 8th from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., or at the race event.

All of the participants will receive a Santa hat and a long sleeved t-shirt. If you are within the first 500 people to sign up you also will receive a Dutch Bros gift card.

Money raised through the Santa Shuffle will go towards local Salvation Army programs, educational and enrichment classes, food assistance, and holiday assistance programs.

This year’s goal is to have 400 runners registered for the race. Last year the event raised $16,000.

The race will be Saturday December 9th at 8:30 a.m. at lower Bidwell Park, one mile recreation area, South Park Drive in Chico.

Temperatures are staying cool, but gusty north winds will drive high fire danger across northern California on Tuesday. Breezy north winds, warmer temperatures, and dry conditions are ahead for your Wednesday. We'll stay dry and get even warmer from late this week through this weekend.
