Safe Space opens emergency shelter during flash flood

Safe Space opened an emergency shelter at First Baptist Church.

CHICO, Calif. - Safe Space is opening an emergency shelter due to flooding at Comanche Creek. The space will accommodate 35 people. 

The shelter will be set up at First Baptist Church at 850 Palmetto Ave. in Chico. Hot meals and dry clothes will be provided to those staying at the shelter, according to Safe Space Board Member Siana Sonoquie. Mats and blankets will also be provided.

Safe Space is providing transportation to the emergency shelter which will tentatively remain open until Tuesday. 

The shelter is accepting donation drop-offs at First Baptist Church beginning at 2 p.m. today.
