UPDATE: 6:53 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2020 - Redding Police identified 30-years-old Anthony Simmons involved in a domestic violence incident on Friday morning.

Around 8:12 a.m., the Redding Police Department says they received a call from a young juvenile reporting that was being assaulted by her boyfriend inside their apartment, according to police.

Officers responded to the home, where they say they saw the man exit the apartment holding an infant and a shotgun, police said. The suspect quickly retreated into the house with both infant and shotgun after seeing the police.

According to police, the suspect refused to exit the apartment. The SWAT responded to the scene and de-escalation tactics were employed.

Police used a public address system for about forty minutes when an adult female and two children exited the apartment.

After several hours, the location was determined to be safe for the general public and law enforcement officers ultimately cleared the scene according to police.

The identities of the victims are being withheld due to confidentiality. Criminal charges are being sought against Simmons.

Aside from the haze and smoke, we've had beautiful weather in northern California today, and it will be just as nice tomorrow. A storm is coming our way, however, and we'll have very unsettled weather this weekend.
