REDDING, Calif. – A man is in custody, after he fired shots in a Redding neighborhood.
Around 4 p.m. Thursday, Police received calls of shots being fired in the 1200 block of Bundy Court. Police quickly responded to the scene, where they contacted a man in his mid-20s. Officers said, the man was alone inside the apartment armed with a handful and rifle.
RPD said the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Daniel Anacleto Farfan, exited the apartment with a handgun in his waistband. Officers said Farfan complied with them and was taken into custody.
“We responded, activated our SWAT team, came here with an armored car, a combination of our SWAT guys and patrol guys ended up making contact with a male, I believe in his mid-20s,” Lt. Brian Cole, said.
It is still unclear why the man was firing shots. Officers checked the neighborhood and located multiple bullet strikes were located on nearby apartments but no one was injured.
The Neighborhood Police Unit executed a search warrant on the apartment and located a rifle and other evidence showing Farfan fired multiple rounds towards the neighboring buildings.
Farfan was placed under arrest and booked into the Shasta County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm into a residence, according to RPD.
