BURNEY, Calif. - One man was arrested on Feb. 3 after Shasta County officials say he stabbed his brother in the chest.

Just before 6 p.m., Ken Herrington called the Sheriff's Office saying his brother, Alan, had stabbed him during an argument in Burney.

When officers arrived, they say they learned from witnesses Alan was intoxicated and in an argument with his brother and was asked by Alan to step outside. This is when officials say Alan grabbed a large knife from the kitchen and stabbed Ken in the center of his chest.

Alan then left the home on foot and was arrested a short distance away on the same street.

During an interview, officials say Alan admitted to them he had stabbed his brother.

Alan was arrested for attempted murder and booked into the Shasta County Jail.

Ken was taken to a Redding hospital, his condition is unknown.
