CHICO, Calif. - What started out as a routine traffic stop quickly led to the discovery of drugs and a loaded gun in Chico Sunday night, according to Chico police.
Police say this happened just after 9:30 p.m. when an officer pulled over a car driven by Thomas Devlin, 43, of Chico near East First Avenue and Terrace Drive.
During the traffic stop, officers found out that Devlin had a suspended license.
When officers asked Devlin to get out of the vehicle - he refused, according to Chico police.
After several attempts, officers pulled him out of the vehicle and had a brief struggle with Devlin, according to Chico police.
Devlin was then arrested, but when officers searched his vehicle, they found a loaded gun under the driver's seat, 22.2 grams of methamphetamine, 26.55 grams of heroin, a digital scale and other narcotic paraphernalia, according to Chico police.
Officers also found pepper spray within Devlin's clothing, according to Chico police.
Action News Now checked, Devlin was booked into the Butte County Jail.
