Riders kick start cycling season with 'Chico Stage Race'

CHICO, Calif - Cycling season is now officially underway in the North State, that’s because Sunday was the final day of the three-day “Chico Stage Race.”

CHICO, Calif - Cycling season is now officially underway in the North State, that’s because Sunday was the final day of the three-day “Chico Stage Race.”

Organizers said that up to 600 racers made their way to Chico from all over the country and world.

Race director Jeff Galland said a big reason why international racers come to Chico is the warmer weather.

“Chico’s a cycling town and a bike-racing community for a long time and the people that love bicycle racing want to put on a race that showcases our town and puts on a good race for the racers,” Galland said.

All of the money from the race goes towards community cycling, racing and other charitable programs.
