Refuge Fire in Siskiyou County fully contained

CAL FIRE reports a wildfire in the tule marshes at the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge.

LOWER KLAMATH NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, Calif. – A wildfire has been 100% contained in Siskiyou County on private property adjacent to Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge.

The fire started in a marshy area on private land late Saturday afternoon. The fire was 873 acres.

It was burning in tule marshes in the vicinity of Lower Klamath Lake Road and Dorris Brownell Road.

Cal Fire said the cause of the fire was an escape control burn from private property. The fire impacted about 40 ac on refuge land, according to officials.
