REDDING, Calif. -- Connecting people all over the world and turning ordinary, everyday folks into internet sensations has become par for the course in today’s social media world. Understand it or not, that is the reality.

To try and make sense of it all, Action News Now Morning Anchor Julia Yarbough spent time in Redding, catching up with a Northern California teen who has taken Tik Tok by storm!

What is Tik Tok? It’s the mobile app platform where anyone can create quick, fun and sometimes bizarre video content; anything from dancing, singing, comedy! You name it and Tik Tok has it! It now also has Payton King.

Last August, the 19 year old Shasta High School graduate came onto the Tik Tok scene developing his wacky, creative and comedic video clips. Now, just a few short months later, he is known around the globe.

“I started making some funny comedy videos and I thought, why not just put a few of these on the app,” says King. “I guess people started liking them, because now I have 1.8 million followers.”

King says performing for laughs comes easy for him and is something he has done most of his life. The only difference is now is that he creates content from home and then uploads it for the world to see.

“I remember going down to my Grandmas house and I’d put on my big shoes and walk around trying to make people laugh.”

Anyone can make a video and place it on Tik Tok. But what’s the pay-off
In grabbing the attention of millions of followers?

How about one of the biggest stars in country music, Kane Brown, including you as one of only four accounts he follows?

Or for King, who now wears the label “Tik Tok” star. That title can translate into social media agents becoming interested in signing you to lucrative marketing deals.

“Hopefully I’m be able to do movies, TV shows and Stand-Up comedy,” says King. “I don’t want to limit myself to anything. This is a passion of mine; entertaining people and creating content.”

King says he has been approached by several agents looking to bring him on board. He says nothing is final yet, but needless to say he’s excited about all the possibilities and where his Tik Tok talent may take him.
