REDDING, Calif. – The Post Office Saloon and Grill had to get creative when it comes to outdoor seating. The business moved its dine-in options to the hallway just outside of its restaurant.

The Post Office Saloon and Grill says it met with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and got the go-ahead for hallway seating. The owner tells Action News Now because of the construction downtown, seating in the hallway was the only option.

Customers who came out to eat at the restaurant say, it's important to support businesses not only impacted by coronavirus but also by construction.

“It's really critical to support the restaurants, particularly those right here because of the construction,” said Laura Young, who came to eat at The Post Office Saloon and Grill.

“A lot of people are perhaps choosing to go to other areas, but we really need to support our restaurants particularly here in downtown.”

The owner says he did get permission from the building landlord and neighboring businesses to do hallway seating. The owner also says they did file a permit with ABC and paid the $100 fee.

The Post Office Saloon and Grill also offer masks and hand sanitizers for customers.
