REDDING, Calif.- In Shasta County, many restaurants have now switched to outdoor dining.
Action News Now spoke to one restaurant that is embracing the change.
Casa Ramos in Redding moved quickly transforming a part of its parking lot into an outdoor dining area, once they found out they could no longer do indoor dining.
“It’s been picking up little by little,” says Yolanda Cobarrubias, a server at Casa Ramos. “We’re getting more, as you can see, tents, so we can get more tables out so we can get more people in.
The Mexican restaurant converted a section of its parking lot into an outdoor dining ‘fiesta’ complete with socially-distanced tables, tents, and misting fans. Employees wearing their masks despite the heat, but management says the change is necessary.
“We switched because it was necessary for us to do it, so we can get more people in, more customers in,”says Cobarrubias.
The restaurant plans to stick with its new style of dining until they’re able to go back to indoor dining.
“Well, we’re doing the to-go orders, we’ve been doing that since our second closing,” says Cobarrubias.
Customers tell Action News Now tell they’re enjoying the change because it’s still a chance to support local businesses.
