Redding police said assault rifle and pistols confiscated during traffic stop

Two arrests were made during the early Sunday morning traffic stop, one of an adult and one of a juvenile.

REDDING, Calif. – Redding police said an assault rifle and two pistols were confiscated during a traffic stop, leading to arrests of a juvenile and an adult.

The traffic stop occurred early Sunday morning, just before 3:00 a.m., at Hartnell Avenue and Northwoods Way in Redding.

An officer said when he walked up to the vehicle he could see the butt of a gun in a bag on the passenger floorboard, between the passenger’s legs.

The gun in the bag is being described by police as an unregistered, loaded, short-barreled assault rifle.

Two unregistered pistols were also found within arm’s reach of the driver and the passenger said police. They said the pistols were loaded with ammunition.

19-year-old Jacob Morrow was the passenger. He was booked for weapons violations and was taken to the Shasta County Jail.

The driver, a juvenile who was not identified, was booked and taken to Juvenile Hall.
