Redding police release video of 2018 officer-involved shooting

Redding police released a video on Facebook of an officer-involved shooting that happened in 2018.

REDDING, Calif. - Redding police released a video on Facebook of an officer-involved shooting that happened on August 27, 2018. 

It is the first time the public is seeing cell phone and surveillance camera footage, that shows Eric Hames angrily confronting motorists and an officer in a patrol car.

Soon after, being shot by officers on Larkspur Lane near the intersection of Cypress Ave.

Hames was carrying a knife and was killed in the shooting.

The Redding Police Department released a statement along with the video saying: "The administrative investigation concluded the officers acted within policy and the officers were justified in the use of deadly force."

In July of 2019, Shasta County's District Attorney found officers were justified in their actions.
