REDDING, Calif. - It's back to the box office for people in Redding. On September 4, Cinemark Redding 14 welcomed back moviegoers for the first time in months.
The movie theater opened its doors around 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon. But people planning to head to the theaters can expect to see some changes.
Movie-goers must wear face-coverings while inside, there will be fewer people in each theater, and Cinemark is staggering showing times to prevent over-crowding. Steven Delben of Redding tells Action News Now he’s glad that theater is back open but doesn’t plan to go to the movies anytime soon.
“You're supposed to be in your own bubble, you can't have weddings, barbeques, or anything of that sort and you would be mingling with other people,” said Delben.
“But it's exciting to see that they're opening.”
The theater is even offering private watch parties, which allows people to stay within their own group.
Cinemark is encouraging people to buy their tickets online for a more contactless experience.
With Shasta County being in the orange or moderate category under the reopening plan, movie theaters can open indoors but at 50% capacity.
