The Redding Police Department said that a man was stabbed while trying to break up a fight between another man and a woman.

The incident happened just before 9 p.m. Friday at the Capri Motel on 4620 Westside Road, Redding, according to RPD.

Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim Sean Mccune, 27, of Redding, who officers said suffered multiple stab wounds.

Mccune told officers that he was walking in the area with his girlfriend, when he observed a woman he knew as “Sphinx” being assaulted by an unknown white man with dark short hair in his 30s, according to RPD.

Officers then said Mccune intervened and was stabbed by the unidentified man who later fled the scene and was not located.

Mccune was transported to Mercy Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call Redding police at (530)-225-4269.
