REDDING, Calif. – A Redding man is being charged with child pornography offenses.
A federal grand jury returned a two-count indictment against 67-year-old William Dan Powell of Redding. Charging Powell with possession of child pornography, U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott, announced in a press release.
According to court documents, Powell possessed pornographic material depicting prepubescent children.
Powell is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, Sept. 12 in Sacramento.
This case is part of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office.
If Powell is convicted, he faces a maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
