Redding Firefighters knock down early morning house fire

Redding Firefighters knocked down a house fire that damaged a home Friday morning.

REDDING, Calif. -Redding Firefighters knocked down an early morning house fire that damaged a home on Arizona St.

Redding Fire Department said the fire broke out just before 3:45 a.m. Friday morning. They said 50% of the single-story home was involved.

The initial report firefighters received was fire coming from the windows. 

The family that lives in the home was able to make it out safely.

No pedestrians or firefighters were injured.

The fire did damage part of a neighboring home and several chickens died due to the heat from the fire. 

The fire was under control by 4:42 a.m. and crews remained on for several hours.

It took a few hours, but the sun broke through the clouds over most of northern California Tuesday afternoon. The low clouds, fog and light rain showers return to the valley Wednesday, with snowy weather in the mountains.
