REDDING, Calif.- On Wednesday, the Salvation Army in Redding honored and recognized a Redding couple who have been red kettle volunteers for 11 years.

In 2020, Dick and Fran Wilkinson raised $41,156, making this a new record for the couple. Over the past decade, the Wilkson’s raised a total of $231,420. The couple has also dedicated more than 10,000 hours of volunteer time.

“I was just flabbergasted when I found out,” said Dick Wilkinson. “Our best year ever was in 2019 and we raised a little over $25,000. When I found out we raised over $41,000 I could hardly believe it."

The couple is also well known for their decorated home during Christmas time. When people come to visit their home and donate, the couple also hands out candy canes to those that come by. Over the past few years, they’ve handed out more than 150,000 candy canes.
