Redding Residents Splash For Fun While Helping ‘Good News Rescue Mission’

Dozens of families and residents soaked up the sun in Redding on Saturday for a good cause.

REDDING, Calif. - Dozens of families and residents soaked up the sun in Redding on Saturday for a good cause.

The Good News Rescue Mission, a non-profit homeless shelter, held their annual “Lift ‘Em Up Water Fest” the event featured water slides, food trucks and raffles.

“It’s just a great time for the community to come together. See what we’re doing and a fun way just to celebrate and loving on people in our community,” said Jonathan Anderson.

The missions’ goal was to raise $40,000 and the organization says they will have the final count on Monday, but at last check, on Saturday they raised around $15,000.

A fire weather watch has been issued from 1pm Monday to 11am Wednesday in the Valley and foothills due to dry and gusty conditions. We'll warm up next week but next weekend is looking much much cooler and wet.
