Redding Police find missing woman

Police say 70-year-old Sherry Reger went out for a walk with her dog, but did not return after an extended period of time. She went out for a walk around 3:30 pm Saturday afternoon.

UPDATE October 18, 2021, at 9 a.m. - Redding Police Department said officers located Sherry Reger and she is in good health. Reger was located at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.

REDDING, Calif. - On Saturday at 7:24 P.M., Redding Police Officers responded to a report of an elderly female missing from the 2000 block of Vineyard Trail in Redding.

Reger is described by police as a white female adult, 5’04” tall, 140 pounds, with blond hair, blue eyes. Reger’s dog is described as being small, about 10 lbs with brown hair.

Officers say in a Facebook post, 70-year-old Sherry Reger, left her home around 3:30 p.m. to take her dog on a walk.

When Reger did not return home within a reasonable length of time, friends and family began looking for her.

As of 10:27 P.M., they have not been able to locate her.

Her daughter reported Reger missing.

Redding Police Officers conducted a search of Reger’s residence, the area surrounding her residence, and where she is known to take her dog for walks but has not located Reger.

Officers used all-terrain motorcycles, a K-9 officer, and received assistance from the California Highway Patrol Air Operations Helicopter to assist in the search for Reger.

Reger is considered a missing at-risk adult due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding her disappearance, her age, her mental state, and no prior reports of being missing.
