Redding Police searching for missing woman

Officers with the Redding Police Department are searching for an 83-year-old at-risk woman who disappeared late Wednesday afternoon.

UPDATE:  Redding Police report that Janet Linville was found safe Wednesday evening.  A citizen reported seeing her at Holiday Market on Deschutes Road around 7:50 p.m.  

Redding, CA. – Officers with the Redding Police Department are searching for an 83-year-old at-risk woman who disappeared late Wednesday afternoon. Police say Janet Linville, who is from the Oak Run area of Shasta County, suffers from severe dementia. Her husband told investigators that they were at the Raley’s Shopping Center on Lake Boulevard when she hopped into their pickup truck and drove away, leaving him behind. Janet Linville has not driven in three years.

Officers checked the surrounding area and other locations she may visit but there has been no sign of her or the pickup truck, which is described as a green 1998 Toyota Tacoma, California license plate 7U37556. The California Highway Patrol Air Operations unit also searched the Oak Run area.

Janet Linville is described as 5’7”, 170 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a blue blouse and white pants. She also wears a large owl pendant around her neck. Call the Redding Police Department at 530-225-4200 if you have any information on her whereabouts.
