Oxford Road standoff in Redding ended with surrender

The man who barricaded himself inside an Oxford Rd. home in Redding was arrested after an eight hour standoff

The man who was believed to have fired the gun inside the Oxford Rd. residence was identified by the Redding Police Department as 20-year-old Matthew Finley of Redding.

Finley was cleared at a local hospital before being taken to the Shasta County Jail for discharging a firearm in an inhabited dwelling.

UPDATE Friday, April 12, 2019 - Authorities have detained the suspect barricaded inside the house. 

The suspect has been taken into custody.

UPDATE 12:25 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2019 - Authorities are now firing rounds of tear gas into the home on Oxford Road in an effort to find a suspect that has barricaded himself inside the house. 

Police have also deployed a robot and multiple drone flights to get the man out of the house but have had no response yet.

UPDATE 10:23 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2019 - Redding authorities have confirmed that the shots heard came from inside a house on the 2100 block of Oxford Road. 

The homeowner told Action News Now that his nephew brought a friend home around 4 a.m. on Friday morning. 

He said the suspect started walking around and talking to himself before he shot a back window of the house. 

The family was able to get out of the home safe. 

The suspect is still inside the house. Redding police have sent a drone inside the house to assess the situation.

REDDING, Calif.- Redding Police are on the scene of a report of shots fired on Oxford Road.

Officers have closed the 2100 block of Oxford Road between Oakdale Lane and Yale Court. The shots were reported at around 4:40 a.m. Friday. Officers are allowing neighbors out of the area, but not into the area. There have been no injuries reported at this time.
