Redding police arrest hit and run suspect

Redding police arrested a hit and run suspect they say hit a teenager with his truck.

REDDING, Calif. -  Redding police arrested a hit and run suspect early Monday morning.

Officers said on Dec. 13, 49-year-old Terry Bessey of Redding, hit a teenager with his truck before driving off on North Court Street near Riverside Drive. The teenager was walking on the sidewalk on his way home from school.

After a two-week investigation, officers were able to track down the truck Bessey was driving in the area near Placer Street around 1:30 a.m. on Monday.

Bessey spoke to officers and confessed to hitting the teenager. He was booked into the Shasta County Jail for felony hit and run.

The teenager is recovering from his injuries, according to authorities.
