REDDING, Calif. - Redding Police say a thief stole 12 right shoes from a store early Friday morning.

Police responded to a burglary alarm at Redwood Sole on Hilltop Drive at 4:30 a.m. Friday morning. The owner says only the right half of 12 pairs of shoes were stolen for unknown reasons. All the left shoes were left behind.

At 4:30 a.m., Redding Police received another call from the owner, saying he was watching someone trying to break into the store through video surveillance. Police say officers found Matthew Watson, 29, fleeing the scene on a bicycle. Police say Watson is on Post Release Community Supervison for assault with a deadly weapon. Police say he was in possession of several burglary tools and a methempetamine smoking pipe.

After booking Watson into the Shasta County Jail, Officers located a residence where he has been staying. A search was conducted and the matching pair to the stolen shoes were all located and later returned to the business.
