Redding Police Department will appoint new chief of police on Aug. 20

The Redding Police Department announced the appointment of Bill Schueller as the new chief of police for the city of Redding.

REDDING, Calif. - The Redding Police Department announced the appointment of Bill Schueller as the new chief of police for the city of Redding.

Schueller's appointment is expected to be considered by the city council at their meeting on Aug. 20.

Schueller joined the Redding Police Department in 1994 and has served in various roles from a patrol officer to his current position of Captain.

In his most recent role he oversaw daily Field Operations Division including Patrol, School Resource Officers, the K-9 Unit, (SWAT Special Weapons and Tactics), Traffic Unit, Community Clean-up, and the Neighborhood Police Unit.

"Captain Schueller has been an exemplary member of the Redding Police Department, excelling in each position he has held," said City Manager Barry Tippin. "We have already discussed the development of a strategic plan and other initiatives we can accomplish together over the next four years. I am excited to have him join the city leadership team, and I know he will be an outstanding Police Chief."
