REDDING, Calif - The Redding Police Department conducted a Minor Decoy and Shoulder Tap operation on Feb 15.
A Minor Decoy operation is designed to target employees who sell alcohol to people less than 21 years of age. A Shoulder Tap operation is designed to target adults who purchase alcohol for people less than 21 years of age.
Under these programs, a minor under the direct supervision of police officers is used to attempt to purchase the alcohol.
Police say during the Minor Decoy operation, Anthony Wheeling, 25, of Redding, sold alcohol to minor at the Valero gas station located at 5150 Churn Creek Road. Additionally, Marcus Jester, 23, of Redding, sold alcohol to a minor at the Circle K located at 1015 Hartnell Avenue. Kenneth Meeder, age 47 of Redding, also sold alcohol to a minor at the Rancho Market located 8510 Airport Road.
Police say during the Shoulder Tap operation, Janie Faust, 58, of Redding, and Jason McDonald, 49, of Redding, furnished alcohol to a minor. All individuals were cited and released.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). ABC is a Department of the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency.
