REDDING, Calif. - Redding police arrested a man for allegedly possessing fake guns, narcotics and burglary tools after cops responded to a call about suspicious activity at the North Bechelli River Trail.

According to Redding police, an officer reached out to two people in a vehicle near the entrance of the area just after 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

The officer then immediately saw a handgun lying on the floor of the vehicle near the driver’s feet, later identified as Christopher Kirchner, 27, of Redding.

Authorities then found out that the handgun was actually a replica handgun, officials said.

When officers searched the vehicle they found another replica handgun along with burglary tools, narcotics and drugs not prescribed to Kirchner.

The passenger was not charged with any crime.

It was nice to receive some rain and mountain snow around northern California late Sunday and early Monday. Thankfully a change to our overall weather pattern is underway, and many more chances of rain are coming!
