Redding Fire investigating early morning vegetation fire

Redding Fire is investigating a vegetation fire that broke out early Thursday morning behind a Redding home improvement store

REDDING, Calif. - The Redding Fire Department is investigating a vegetation fire that broke out just after 3 a.m. Thursday morning in the area behind the Lowe’s Home Improvement Store on 1200 E. Cypress Ave. 

In just 30 minutes, firefighters were able to contain that fire to just an acre. 

There are no reports of injuries. Fire Investigators say witnesses saw a vehicle fleeing from the area shortly after the fire started.

Dry weather, sunny skies, warmer temperatures, and gusty north winds will drive elevated fire danger today. We'll have even stronger winds, but cooler temperatures on Tuesday. Fire danger will remain elevated. There will also be a chance for light showers in the Sierra on Tuesday and Wednesday.
