Redding Fire Department contains human-caused vegetation fire

The Redding Fire Department contained a one-acre vegetation fire at an illegal homeless encampment.

REDDING, Calif. - The Redding Fire Department put out a one-acre vegetation fire in the area of Alta Mesa Drive, according to the fire department.

The fire was located at 3028 Alta Mesa Drive and when firefighters arrived on the scene the fire was half an acre.

Firefighters contained the brush fire in about 15 minutes at about one acre.

The fire was first reported at 10:07 a.m. and was contained by 10:30 a.m.

They remained on the scene for about two hours to conduct the final mop-up.

No damages were reported and neither were injuries.

The fire was at an illegal transient encampment and was human-caused, the fire department said.
